Skill verification
How skill verification works
One spoken interview checks every skill on your résumé, for ₹50. Each skill gets a score and a verified level, and employers who post on Via see them when you apply. Here is how it works, what it costs, and what it does and doesn’t prove.
From résumé to badge
- 01
Upload your résumé
We find every skill on it, and the level your résumé claims for each one.
- 02
Check your skill tree
It’s usually ready in about 15 minutes. Skills not in our list yet stay on your profile in your own words, but aren’t part of the interview.
- 03
Take the interview
Once your interview is ready, pay ₹50 and answer out loud, whenever suits you. At most 20 questions, about 25 minutes.
- 04
Get your results
Usually within 15 minutes of handing in: a score and a verified level for every skill. We email you too.
- 05
Apply
Apply to jobs posted on Via that your verified skills match at 65% or more.
What the interview asks
- Questions about every skill on your résumé, at the level your résumé claims.
- Two questions per skill if you have 8 skills or fewer, and one each if you have more. Never more than 20: past 20 skills, we ask about the ones your résumé makes the most of.
- You answer out loud, so you need a microphone. A quiet room helps.
- Stay on the interview page. Leaving it counts as a strike, and a third strike ends the interview.
- If we couldn’t hear an answer, you can take that question again once. If your connection drops, come back and carry on where you left off.
How it’s scored
Each skill
Your score for a skill is how correct your answers on it were.
- 60% or more
- verified at the level your résumé claims
- 35% or more
- verified one level lower
- Under 35%
- not verified
The levels are Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced.
Your badge
Your overall score comes from every answer. What you said counts double; how you said it (pace, flow, pauses, filler words and confidence) and your language (relevance, grammar and vocabulary) count once each.
A skipped or silent answer counts as zero.
50% overall earns your badge.
Applying to jobs
Employers who post on Via list the skills a job needs and the level for each. Your match is how much of that your verified skills cover. Must-have skills count more than nice-to-haves, and a skill one or two levels short still earns part of the credit. When a job says spoken communication matters, your communication score counts too. At 65% or more, you can apply.
Many jobs on Via take you to the original listing instead. Those are open to everyone, with no verification needed.
What employers see
When you apply, the employer sees your profile, your résumé, your verified skill scores and how well you match. They never get your interview recordings or transcripts.
Recordings are deleted once they’re transcribed, and always within a day. Your résumé and answers aren’t sent to outside AI companies, and they aren’t used to train AI.
Cost and refunds
₹50 covers one résumé. If you upload a new résumé, you verify again to keep applying.
Under 50%? Your results still arrive, with a score for every skill, and you can try again with new questions for ₹50.
If something goes wrong on our side (you can’t start or finish, your results never arrive, or a badge you earned doesn’t show), tell us. If we can’t put it right within 7 days, we refund you in full. Read the refund policy.
What it doesn’t prove
Verification shows how well you can talk through each skill, at the level you claim, in one sitting. It doesn’t check your degrees, past employers, references or ID, and it isn’t a hands-on test of your work. Employers still interview you and make their own decision.
Questions people ask
Do I need to verify to use Via?
No. Browsing is free, and jobs that take you to the original listing need no account at all. You verify only to apply to jobs posted on Via.
How long does it take?
The interview takes about 25 minutes, and your skill tree and your results each usually arrive within 15 minutes. Most people go from résumé to badge in about an hour.
Who marks my answers?
AI marks each answer against what a good answer to that question covers, as soon as you hand in.
What if I don’t pass?
Your results still arrive, with a score and advice for every skill. You can take the interview again, with new questions, for ₹50.
What happens when I update my résumé?
Your badge belongs to the résumé you verified. Upload a new one and you verify it again, for ₹50, before your next application on Via.
